These fellas are just on the other side of Australia (Perth); fancy that! They recently got picked up by french disco label Tigerlily and will have this track released along with others on a compilation. Currently digging this tune: hearing some aeroplane x a mellow petshop boys influence in this.

Star Wars Vintage Figs Wishlist
Hasbro has been re-releasing old Star Wars action figurines as part of their vintage series; currently in Australia is wave 2 which consists of characters from Revenge of the Sith. Wave 3 will be out shortly and will consist of bros from Return of the Jedi. Already have my eye on two of them 🙂 Worst thing is guessing when they’ll be arriving in stores.
Temper Trap’s Fader (Pivot Remix)
Work has made me appreciate my free time digging around for new things to play and/ or listen to. And usually my free time is either on public transport or whilst driving (basically, the times I’m in transit). And thanks to the amazing thing called the radio, I heard this nifty Pivot remix of Temper Trap’s Fader.

A Pivot touch to anything is always a marvelous thing to hear 🙂
Google Android Mini Collectibles Series 2!
A second series has been announced, after a ridiculously popular first series run. This Green Machine has a blog post full of awesome pictures of the first series.
The second series will feature artists including Andrew Bell, Gary Ham, Doktor A and a few from the folk behind the Android team at Google, huzzah! Won’t be out until sometime in the first quarter of 2011 so there is only a teaser banner.
The good news is a standard 3″ vinyl figurine will be available in November in limited quantities. Sexy beast, ain’t it? Looking at between AUD$10-$15 each.
And to top it off, a Do-It-Yourself one will be available for you to customise. Also at 3″ and will be disassemble-able for easier decoration.

Will be stocking these via Klaus und Sven 🙂
American Apparel ads are pretty cool
My friend wrote an article for News on American Apparel’s recent financial woes.
Then I found some articles about people who really don’t like American Apparel ads.
And then I found some images that suggest that I might.

I Can Has Cheezburger CEO Ben Huh’s TedxSeattle Talk
After news broke that Cheezburger Network’s Ben Huh was offering to buy the ailing Reddit, it was natural to investigate what role Ben Huh plays and what he did to capitalise on something I’d dare say is phenomenal on the internet: lolcats (cat memes). Reading through his blog, he posted up a talk he did at a Ted conference in Seattle around April about the “19 debts” he owed himself; i.e. his 19 goals he has set himself out to do.

Spotless – short by Jessica Nilsson
Directed by Swedish director Jessica Nilsson, caught this one at Flickerfest two years ago at a best-of compilation screening.  It’s pretty morbid, but everything about the pace, the music, the vintage film filter and the fact that it made very little sense made this a crowd favourite. Towards the end there is a cat on a piano. Yes.

Slowdive & Washed Out Mashup – Space Around the Feel Station
Picked this up on Scott Hansen’s blog, who’s a San Fran based DJ and designer and has a lot of really nifty stuff on his blog. He loves Washed Out as well and picked up a mashup that Violens did with Slowdive’s Souvlaki Space Station and Washed Out’s Feel it all Around. As a mashup it’s probably not the best thing out there, but I love them both so much and it’s great to pick up on their familiar melodies.
It’s available on a mixtape that you can find on their website.

Barbra Streisand – a dance mix by Duck Sauce

Barbra Streisand.
Barbra Streisand.
Barbra Streisand.
You can now dance/ rave/ bob your head with joy, hearing Barbra Streisand’s name. Over and over again. Heaps of play time on triple j lately; but damn it’s catchy!

This is mildly confusing. Is this brand affiliation at work here? Does this now make her… cool, Â hip and appealing to young folk now? Does listening to this change the way you listen to her old songs? Will she have hipster cred?
